WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Crockett slammed President Trump’s illegal and unconstitutional action to freeze new and ongoing funding for federal grants and loans that is set to take effect today, January 28, 2025 at 5:00 PM. Crockett released a statement demanding Trump reverse this decision and preserve essential funding for programs like Head Start, Meals on Wheels, federal food assistance, housing assistance, and any other program that depends in whole or in part on federal funding.

Crockett joined 153 House Democrats in sending a letter to the Trump Administration after President Trump issued an executive order on his first day in office that could pause all disbursements of Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding immediately. Neither the vaguely worded executive order nor a follow-up memorandum from Trump's Office of Management and Budget Acting Director Matthew Vaeth and National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett clarify which projects, programs, and activities are frozen.
