WASHINGTON, DC - On January 16, 2025, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) and Senator John Cornyn (TX) introduced legislation to rename the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Dallas after the late Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson. The bill would rename the facility as the “Eddie Bernice Johnson Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center”, to honor the Congresswoman's 30 years of service as U.S. Representative for Texas' 30th Congressional District and 10 years of service within the Texas Legislature.
DALLAS — Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett celebrated the grant disbursement of $2,225,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services to the Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services for opioid prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and long-term recovery resources. This grant disbursement is part of a five year grant to Dallas County to combat overdose deaths and help residents access recovery resources.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) sent a letter to VA Secretary Denis McDonough requesting information regarding recent reports by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) detailing racial and ethnic disparities with the Department of Veteran Affairs’ (VA) compensation with disability benefits. Of particular concern is the Department's low-approval rate for non-Hispanic Black Veterans, which from 2010-2020 was 61% versus 75% for White veterans.
