May 21, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, Vice Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly:

"A dedicated public servant for over three decades, Congressman Gerry Connolly’s career was marked by unwavering commitment to effective and efficient governance and the protection of federal workers.

Congressman Connolly commanded a giant presence on the Oversight Committee, where he held several key positions, including Chair of the Subcommittee on Government Operations. Where, under his leadership, the subcommittee conducted wide-ranging hearings and launched over a thousand oversight investigations, addressing issues from federal workforce protections to IT modernization.

As Ranking Member of the full committee, Congressman Connolly has led the fight to hold the Trump Administration accountable. In just the first 100 days of President Trump’s second administration, Congressman Connolly and Committee Democrats launched more than 100 investigations ranging from DOGE accessing Americans’ sensitive data to Musk’s conflicts of interest at various federal agencies.

Congressman Connolly’s legacy is one of principled leadership and dedicated public service. His contributions will have a lasting impact on the efficiency and effectiveness of government. It has been an absolute honor to serve alongside him, and more than that, to learn from him. The country is better off because of his work, and he will be deeply missed in the halls of Congress and beyond.

I am lifting the Connolly family in prayer and sending them strength, healing, and peace."
