VIDEO: House Ag Passes Congresswoman Crockett's Crypto Regulation Amendment

July 27, 2023

WASHINGTON – Today, during a House Agriculture Committee markup on cryptocurrency,  Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) introduced an amendment to the bipartisan cryptocurrency regulation bill which would strengthen regulations on the crypto industry, namely regarding the provisional registration framework administered by the CFTC and SEC. The amendment would:

1) require that anyone trying to file a notice of intent to register must do so with a physical address,

2) increase market transparency and provide customers with additional information by requiring digital asset exchanges and dealers, when filing their notice of intent to register, to provide information about the specific characteristics of the digital assets they list or offer, including information on asset volatility, distribution of the token, and use case for the token,

3) require additional customer disclosures related to custody of digital assets and CFTC anti-fraud enforcement.

This amendment was passed by the full committee by voice vote. Watch the proceedings below.
