Statement from Rep. Crockett on the Passage of the Affordable Care Act Tax Credit Extension
Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Crockett issued the following statement:
“House Democrats – and yes, a few Republicans – took action to stand up for the American people by voting to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits.
At the start of this year, Americans across the country saw their health insurance premiums rise after the enhanced ACA tax credits expired on December 31. For families already facing an affordability crisis, these higher costs were immediate and devastating.
After months of pushing for action, this vote delivered exactly what families deserve: affordable health care.
It should not have taken a forced vote for Republicans to do their jobs. At a time when families are struggling, many Republicans chose to drag their feet and cater to Donald Trump instead of governing. This is a real crisis, and ignoring it only benefits those who rig the system to work on behalf of themselves—Trump and his mini-me Mike Johnson.
The fight is not over. This legislation now moves to the Senate. The House has done its part; now the Senate must act to ensure families aren’t left paying the price for political games.”
