ICYMI: Rep. Jasmine Crockett Appointed to Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government

April 30, 2024

WASHINGTON — Tomorrow, May 1, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett will participate in her first hearing as a member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. Congresswoman Crockett was selected by Ranking Member Stacy Plaskett (VI-At Large) to represent the needs of the people of her district and push back against attempts to use this governing body for the same types of pointless partisan games and disinformation campaigns that have characterized the House Oversight Committee since Republicans took control in 2023.

"As a member of the House Oversight Committee, it is my duty and responsibility to reign in the nonsense coming from some of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle and refocus the resources of that important Committee towards its actual purpose: providing government oversight. I aim to do the same as a member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Weaponization of Federal Government," said Rep. Crockett. "Tomorrow and at all future hearings, I will call on my colleagues to refrain from partisan bickering and use this Subcommittee to investigate real instances of government overreach, including the examples of overreach from the Governor and Legislature in Texas into women's doctor's offices and reproductive healthcare decisions."
