Crockett Statement on Earthquake in Turkey and Syria

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) issued the following statement amid the aftermath of deadly earthquake and its aftershocks in Turkey, Syria, and the surrounding region:

“It is with a heavy heart that I join my Turkish and Syrian brothers and sisters in their grief after the deadly earthquake in Gaziantep that has taken thousands of lives too soon and devastated the place they call home.

“I join President Joe Biden and my House Democratic colleagues in our commitment to serve as steadfast partners to the people of Turkey and Syria during this time of reconstruction and restoration. It is crucial that we take a whole-of-government approach in providing aid and support to the people of Turkey, Syria, and the surrounding region immediately.

“My heart and prayers go out to all of those impacted by this heartbreaking loss."
