Crockett Represents House Agriculture Democrats Advocating for Rural America at Texas Agriculture Events

March 15, 2023

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) releases the following statement after a day in Waco, Texas representing Dallas-Fort Worth and House Agriculture Democrats at agriculture events across area:

In Waco, Texas, a bipartisan group of House Agriculture Committee members met with farmers, ranchers, foresters, processors, nutrition groups, and other stakeholders during a series of events. Congresswoman Crockett introduced herself as a Freshman member and spoke for Texas’ 30th District.

“When you talk about SNAP, you talk about Ag[riculture]. We do a lot of Ag in Texas. We need to take a holistic approach to the farm bill and the importance of preserving and improving the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

“I echo Chairman Thompson, who said that ‘Neighbors help neighbors in need, and that's what the nutrition title does.’ I couldn’t agree more. I see Texans struggling, and it’s our job to help!

“We’re hard at work ensuring that the farm bill will be bipartisan, bicameral, on time, and highly effective. I’m taking back to Washington with me stories from local farmers, like Celina Esekawu. A young steward of the land, Celina is making Robertson County proud. Farmers like her are the key to our future, and we need to support farmers like Selina so they can keep doing what they are doing: feeding our nation.”
