Crockett Extends Support to Those Affected by Silicon Valley Bank Failure
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) releases the following statement amid the failure of Silicon Valley Bank:
Speaking with Alicia Menendez of MSNBC's American Voices, Congresswoman Crockett spoke in support of the administration's handling of the Silicon Valley Bank failure, and of those affected.
“This is what leadership looks like. In the midst of a crisis on the weekend, we learned truly what it means to be a public servant, and have no days off. There are people that are concerned. We know that people are already so very concerned, financially. We’ve been dealing with the inflation conversations that we have with so many constituents.
“Markets only operate when there’s confidence, and so the one thing we need to do and we need to show, especially in this administration, is that we are the grownups in the room that will provide the confidence that’s needed, that will not waste taxpayer dollars, but will also make sure that people feel like ‘my money’s safe.’
“This isn’t 2008, but it’s still a really bad situation, and I won’t try to sugarcoat it. I’m fighting for the good people of Texas’ 30th that have been affected, and working with the steadfast members of the House Financial Services Committee to ensure the little guy does not bear the brunt of this crisis.”
