Crockett Commemorates Black History Month – Honoring the Past, While Working in the Present for a Better Future

February 1, 2023

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) issued the following statement commemorating Black History Month:

“Happy Black History Month to the good people of Texas’ 30th Congressional District. Each and every day, I take pride in my heritage and my family and community’s history. Let the record show, Black history is American history, and I look forward to sharing this rich history with my family, friends, colleagues, and constituents.

“I honor where we have been and am focused on where we are going. May we always remember the words of Congressman John Lewis and never fear getting in to ‘good trouble,’ in this fight for progress.

“I came to Congress in this fight for progress and equity and stand on the shoulders of the icons that came before me. From the Honorable Shirley Chisholm, to the Honorable Barbara Jordan, and many more, I am because they were. I look forward to continuing in this fight ahead with my community by my side. I will continue the good work to make my ancestors proud.”
