Crockett Announces New AmeriCorps VISTA Project in Dallas

February 27, 2023

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) issued the following statement after the announcement that the Veteran Women’s Enterprise Center in Dallas has received an award valued at more than $117,540 per year from AmeriCorps, the federal agency for service and volunteering, to support a new AmeriCorps VISTA project:

“I’m thrilled to announce that the Veteran Women’s Enterprise Center will benefit from this incredible service,” said Congresswoman Crockett. “The great work done all throughout the country by AmeriCorps will soon arrive in Texas’ 30th Congressional District. I look forward to the unabashed service that six new full-year AmeriCorps members will provide to our community’s veterans, and thank them for committing themselves to North Texas.”

While serving, the AmeriCorps VISTA members will tackle local challenges facing the community, including lack of access to business opportunities, and economic inequality. This investment will support up to six AmeriCorps VISTA members per year, and will help the Veteran Women’s Enterprise Center to scale for success.

In addition to the award announced today, AmeriCorps will also provide more than $38,970 each year in education scholarships for the AmeriCorps VISTA members supported by this award to help pay for college and vocational training, or reimburse individuals on their student loans.
