Crockett Announces $2,000,000 for Texas Passenger Rail Projects
WASHINGTON ā Today, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett announced $2,000,000 for Texas rail projects awarded by the Federal Railroad Administration. Consisting of four separate grant awards of $500,000 each, these grants will be awarded to Amtrak and its rail partners for the development of high-speed and intercity rail connecting North Texas with stations across the country.
Four projects directly benefiting the people of Texas' 30th Congressional District have been awarded funding:
- $500,000 for a Texas High-Speed Rail Corridor between Dallas and Houston
- $500,000 for a Texas High-Speed Rail Corridor between Fort Worth and Houston, with additional stops in Arlington, Grand Prairie, Dallas, Hutchins, Wilmer, Lancaster, Ferris, Ennis, Richland, Plantersville, and Jersey Village
- $500,000 for the Texas Triangle: Dallas - Fort Worth - Houston Intercity Passenger Rail Corridor, with additional stops in Corsicana, Hearne, College Station, and Navasota
- $500,000 for I-20 Corridor Intercity Passenger Rail Service, connecting Dallas-Forth Worth with stations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and the East Coast
"Texas is growing, and Dallas is growing even faster. More new Texans also means more public transportation needs, including and especially passenger rail," said Rep. Crockett. "Since day one, my office has worked to bring federal investments back to TX-30 and the Lone Star State. Today, Iām excited to announce we're bringing $2,000,000 home to Texas for intercity and high-speed rail, including development of Texas High-Speed Rail Corridors between Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston; Intercity Passenger Rail Service connecting the Texas Triangle (Fort Worth - Dallas - Corsicana - Hearne - College Station - Navasota - Houston); and the I-20 Corridor Long-Distance Rail Project connecting DFW to Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York City, and more. These projects will lower transportation costs for commuters, ease traffic congestion on our roads, cut down on carbon pollution, and boost economic integration between North Texas and the rest of the country. The future of Texas is coming at HIGH-SPEED!"
With this funding, these projects will enter Step 1 of the program and develop a scope, schedule, and cost estimate for preparing its service development plan.
