Rep. Jasmine Crockett Calls for Investigation into VA Staffing Cuts Impacting Veteran Care in Dallas
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) calls on the Inspector General of the Department of Veterans Affairs to investigate how the staffing cuts mandated by the Trump Administration are negatively impacting veteran care at the Dallas VA Medical Center.
In a formal letter, Rep. Crockett raised concerns over the Department of Veterans Affairs Agency Reduction in Force and Reorganization Plan (ARRP), which stems from an executive order signed by President Trump. VA’s ARRP, magnified by the initial hiring freeze and subsequent terminations of probationary employees, has reportedly delayed veterans’ access to critical surgeries, mental health services, and more.
“Any delay or interference in these services or benefits will cause catastrophic harm to the men and women who risked their lives for our country.”, said Rep. Crockett.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area has one of the largest Veteran populations in the country, and in 2023, the VA North Texas Health Care System had more than 1.3 million outpatient visits, serving approximately 250,000 veterans across 38 Texas counties.
